Karen ...

From a very young age, I have always had a passion for art and craft, a love of creating beautiful and practical pieces and a fascination with colour and design.  The challenge to design, the opportunity to create and work with colour, along with any activity to keep my fingers busy and channel my creative ideas, provides for me a great sense of satisfaction and achievement.

For me, mosaics offers all of these elements, along with the opportunity to develop and create a uniqueness in each piece of art, derived from being able to use and incorporate an extensive range of media.

My background in sales and marketing from a varied career path, together with experience in teaching and educating children, combined with a passion for art, provides the perfect platform for me to own and operate Mosaica.  Our working studio and mosaic shop offer a stimulating space in which I can create and display my work.

My ideas are influenced by the environment around me and often feature elements of nature.  Bright and colourful, my mosaic artworks are designed to stimulate the senses and bring joy to our busy lives and our often muted surroundings.  The use of different media adds another dimension and design element that enhances my artwork and provides a challenge in how to incorporate them into a harmonious mosaic piece.

It is my desire to use the talents that I have been blessed with to help others find and follow their creative path. Our classes are designed to empower those who attend, helping them achieve a sense of self-satisfaction, develop new skills and set them on their own journey of creative self discovery and fulfilment.

Many of my pieces can be seen on display at Mosaica, some of which are available for purchase.  Commission work is also welcome.

Caroline ...

Following in my Mother's footsteps, I am enjoying the challenge of working at Mosaica.  I have always had a love of creating anything 'arty and crafty'.  Among my many talents, I have a natural affinity with children and enjoy helping them achieve fantastic results in whatever they create in the studio.  I enjoy helping customers with their mosaic requirements when they shop at Mosaica, using my mosaic knowledge that I have gained from working alongside my Mother.

My mosaic work is inspired by the great selection of materials that we sell at Mosaica and particularly the bright colours.

I enjoy making up samples of mosaic projects that help to inspire people when they visit Mosaica and many of my mosaic artworks are on display at the studio.

So far ...

To date, we have displayed our work at our local library in St Heliers, Auckland.  Our display was so well received that we were invited back within a matter of weeks to exhibit again.

We have supplied organisations with mosaic materials and project ideas that they have used at their School Holiday Programmes and activities.  These mosaic activities are always very popular and feature regularly on their holiday programme schedules.
