Welcome to 2009!! If you are looking for a creative activity this year, Mosaics is a rewarding and extremely satisfying artform and is increasing in popularity across the world. Classes For those of you who haven’t tried mosaics yet, there is no better time than NOW!! Our 2009 classes have started already and are starting to fill up fast. We offer our Introduction to Mosaics course Classes on the following days and times: Mornings: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday from 10am – 12.30pm Afternoons: Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday from 1pm – 3.30pm Evening: Thursday (minimum of 4 people required to start this class) from 7pm – 9.30pm Our students that attended mosaic courses last year had a very creative and fulfilling experience. To look at their mosaic masterpieces, take a peek at our Gallery page and look at the student portfolio. We’re sure you will agree that they have made a fabulous mosaic that they can all be very proud of. For those students who have been coming weekly since the beginning of last year to our more advanced classes, they have had a rewarding year, completing many different projects for themselves and as gifts for family and friends. They are all set to return this year to embark on the many and varied projects that they have planned. For many of them, their mosaic class is the highlight of their week ,where they get to check on what other students are working on and share ideas for future projects.
We have Sun Catchers at Mosaica, which are proving
very popular with children. This is a great way to use
up any leftover shiny, sparkly bits. – mirror, glass,
glass blobs, etc. They will glisten in the sun and spin
in the wind.
Using Weldbond glue which will dry clear, place your
pieces where you want to on our glass Sun Catcher
base. Leave it lying flat while it dries and once it is
dry, it is ready to hang on the attached wire.
If you need some materials, choose from our Treasure bags,
which are full of exciting treasures – just perfect for
Sun Catcher projects – mirror bits, coloured glass,
glass blobs. We have everything you need for this project
at Mosaica, so come and pick up your materials for this
quick, effective project.
Summer Specials Small 100 x 100mm at $2.00 each. Available in blood red and cobalt blue only.

Gift Vouchers
Other news.... Towards the end of last year, we were busy with commissions that went to the United Kingdom and India as well as locally within New Zealand. Many of our students have been busy making gifts for family and friends and sending them off to the four corners of the world. Their works have made their way to Budapest, the UK, Ireland, Australia, South Africa and Denmark to name but a few places. Let us not forget that many mosaics were sent off by our enthusiastic students to their family members in Canterbury, Invercargill, Blenheim as well. In November, we hosted a group of 14 international exchange students from Germany and Asia. These students spent the day with us participating in a mosaic workshop. They made korus, hearts and flowers. These masterpieces will travel home with them when they return to their native homelands. What a great momento of their time spent in New Zealand. Ever thought of mosaicing a letterbox ?? We’re currently mosaicing one in the studio, so how about calling in to Mosaica and checking out our progress !! We look forward to seeing you at Mosaica soon. ….. Art is a means of adventure and therapy for the mind ….. |
